About us

Welcome to Nokia Research Center

NRC stands for open innovation for human mobility systems of the fused physical and digital world

Our mission is to explore and develop technologies that will be available in the marketplace in five to ten years – not just novelties, but technologies that will see mass market demand from consumers and enterprises.

NRC has been exploring and developing mobile technologies for over 20 years. Always seeking to go beyond the state of the art, we embrace open collaboration and partnering for greater innovation - as we lead Nokia’s transition to an Internet company with increased ambition, focus, and long term perspective, our doors are open to ever-increasing possibility.

This website provides an expanding information portal for the Center's research scientists and engineers. This window enables us to share some of our more recent ideas and experiences with other researchers who might want to discuss topics of mutual interest. We invite you to browse and email anyone of us for further discussion.

There are more than 1100 of us, researchers, engineers and scientists, working in the research centers and lablets that Nokia maintains around the globe. We have a variety of personal and technical backgrounds, but we are all working on research issues relating to mobility of voice and data, management and communications.

Nokia Research Center (NRC) is a separate unit within Nokia, not attached to anyone of the specific product development business units.
